Radiating winner of the competition is China with two gold, two silver and bronze medal as well as with two IPC/IAKS special prices. The Olympic Stadium in Peking won („ Vogelnest \ ") not only the gold medal in the category „ stages \ " , but due to its outstanding offers at sportsmen and spectators with a handicap also the IPC/IAKS special price for barrier-free sports sites.
The IOC/IAKS Award for exemplary sport and leisure facilities is the only international architecture price for sports facilities. In this year 117 teams of operators and planners from 26 countries participated – as many as never before in over 20jährigen the history of this most important competition for sports sites!
The IPC/IAKS special price wants to promote the accesibility of sports sites and all other buildings, in order to give also to humans with a handicap the possibility of exercising sport without reservation and barrier-free or of watching. In IPC/IAKS the special price 54 projects – also this participated are a new Bestmarke. &
