Question: My mom and I got a request for making a topsy turvy cake for a coworkers daughter. We've never made one and were wondering what people prefer. Do you prefer to carve the cakes yourself? Or do you prefer to use the pans? If you use the pans, how does the batter add up? Do you

Definitely carve it yourself. I've never even seen cake pans for topsy turvy cakes, but I imagine they're expensive. It's a lot easier to make topsy-turvy cakes than you would. Here is a good tutorial:
