Is it possible to make a volcano cake without a bundt cake pan?

Question: I need to make a birthday cake this week. I wanted to use an island theme so I was hoping to make a volcano cake. The only problem is that all the recipes I have found call for a bundt cake pan and since I am a student living abroad I only have the very basic essentials in my

Answer: I do not know of any but I would suggest borrowing one or bartering for one.

We can live basically forever without money with what we have right now.

Or possibly you can post in the wanted section on Craigslist (you don't mention where you are abroad)

Might be a bit of work but use cupcake tins and make mini ones. If not use a regular sheet cake pan and make several cakes. You can always cut and mold cake into the shape you'd like after it's been cooked. Layer the smaller sizes on top of the larger ones and cover up any imperfections

Coolest Volcano Cake 50

My son had a Mad Science party for his 7th birthday. He wanted a cake that blew up. So we decided on a Volcano cake that erupted with dry ice.

The cake was made using the Wilton doll cake pan. I took a small playdoh can (ran it through the dishwasher), cut a hole in the top of the cake and placed it in it. I then frosted the cake with chocolate frosting. For the lava I took a can of white frosting and put it into the microwave for a few second. Once it was runny, I tinted it with Copper and Orange food color. I used a spoon and held it over the cake to drizzle it down the sides. The dirt around the cake is Chips Ahoy cookies pulverized in the food processor.

My son decided the Volcano needed dinosaurs. So he took toy dinosaurs and placed it around the cake. Right before serving we placed dry ice and water in the playdoh can and let it erupt.

I was very pleased with the way it turned out. And it was so easy to make. Everyone loved it....

sew grown: Volcano Cake

We celebrated Nate's 6th birthday last week.  We decided this year to just spend time with family on his birthday and have 2 small celebrations with his friends on days that we would see them anyway.  We celebrated with our co-op friends at the park after co-op with cupcakes.  It was so nice to see his face light up as all of his friends sang happy birthday to him.  We also have a standing playdate with a few of my life long friends.  I hosted it at my house the week of Nate's birthday and the kids and I spent the day creating a fun party favor and a cake perfect for my little man. For the party favors we took jewelry charms and stones and buried them in plaster of paris.  We used food tins for the mold and after they dried popped them out and put each child's name on it.  I put some wooden mallets and picks out and the kids had a great time digging out their buried treasure.  When they were finished I put out supplies so they could use...
