Although the Delights don't contain butter or cream, their centers, made from peanut butter, powdered sugar, coconut and vanilla, deliver a richness that's made even more seductive by drenching the confections in chocolate and drizzling them with more chocolate.
The Delights are not hurried, spur-of-the-moment creations Cesanek dreamed up for the fair. She borrowed her idea from the Easter Bunny, who got "his" recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Easter Eggs from Cesanek's grandparents, Mildred Silfies of East Allen Township and the late Russell Silfies.
"I never cared about jelly beans or marshmallow chicks when I was a kid," the Northampton resident says. "All I wanted was a stack of chocolate peanut butter eggs in my Easter basket."
As she talks about the entrancing scent of chocolate mingling with peanut butter, the photo lab's camera lights warm the Delights and begin releasing that very same aroma. It becomes difficult to continue interviewing her, rather than focusing on how much I want to taste one.
