Local Mom Cooks Up Business Out of Tragedy

After losing her son in 2010, her job in 2011 and her mother in 2012, one Merrimack mother is using the memories of her loved ones as a recipe to get back on her feet.

Candy Simeone was grief stricken when her son Jonathon died following a motorcycle accident on the F.E. Everett Turnpike on May 25, 2010. Dealing with the emotional pain that comes with losing a child, Simeone returned to work the Tuesday after she buried her son, in order to hold onto an inside sales job with the electrical company she'd worked for in Massachusetts for six years. A little more than a year later, in the fall of 2011, despite continuing to rank among the top salespeople for the company, Simeone was let go. On Feb. 29, Simeone was dealt another blow when her mother passed away.

“Some days, I just didn't want to get out of bed,” Simeone said of depression that had taken its toll.

She's spent the last year looking for a job to no avail. It's hard, she said, to find a job that pays the kind of money she was making as a sales rep, and for the jobs she's interviewed, Simeone has been overqualified or unable to make the salary that meets her needs to get the bills paid, so she continues to look.

I've Been In The Sweet Business For A Long Time | Crazy Ass Truck ...

I’ve been in the candy enterprise for an extended time. As a matter of truth, you might say that I’ve been in it nearly since I was born. You see, my father ran a cotton candy maker machine. It was one of the previous cotton candy machines, large and loud, filled with glowing fibers of scrumptious sugar. I used to only love watching the cotton sweet machine work. It was fantastic to see the spun sugar swirl spherical and spherical, enveloping itself across the little paper cones that my dad would use to catch the candy.

My dad was kind of a dreamer. He was not a practical man. There wasn’t a lot of money in cotton sweet machines if you happen to only ran certainly one of them. Instead of investing in his enterprise, he was content to while his days away, promoting cotton candy to the local boys and girls. I used to be a bit bit extra practical. I invested in sweet merchandising machines at first, and shortly was making a killing. If you will get an interstate concession, you can make bank simply on vending candy machines, and there’s little or no work involved. All it’s a must to do is service the machines once they go down, and accumulate the money. That’s it!...

Making Chocolate From Molds | Crazy Ass Truck Driver

In the late 1800′s, chocolate makers already used molds made from metal. This made it possible to shape them either as flat or three dimensional. Plastic soon replaced that as these were expensive to produce making it possible for amateur chocolatiers to make these at home.

When you buy chocolate molds from the craft store, make sure that this is made from strong plastic that has intricate designs so the finished product will come out beautifully after it comes out of the freezer.

Remember that this must never be washed using soap as this can mare the taste of the chocolate. You should simply use hot water and then dry it thoroughly using a dry cloth.

Each time you use the plastic mold, make sure to wipe it clean. Greasing, spraying or dusting is not needed as this will ruin the appearance of the finished candy.

But there is an exception to that rule. If you will be mixing your chocolate with some marshmallows, candy sprinkles, jellies or cooked candies, then you must first grease or spray the chocolate mold with oiling spray. This will make the chocolate easy to remove from the mold and if you are going to make another batch, the good news is that you only have to oil spray it once.
