Friday 7 pm. Spent today day working from home and trying not to masturbate. Surprisingly harder than it's been lately. Busy at work, easy. Sleepy AM at home after dropping the kids at school, hard.

Instead of jerking off I watched TV. As if that's any less soul-rotting. I rent documentaries when I’m alone cause I won't feel like shit for spending the time on them, and I can't watch most docs (or anything else really) while the kids are home. Funny how we try to protect them from reality for so long.

Eventually lunchtime came around and I needed to eat and run some errands. There's a goddamn hurricane weather-pocalypse/literal shit-storm coming. And you have to bug out and buy stuff like candles and gasoline.

Errands tend to make me horny. It's a lot of boredom and women in houseclothes and lowered expectations and transactionality. It's like I'm shopping around in more than one sense. Or six senses if you will.

From the moment I start cooking something for a blog post, I begin to think about how I want to style it, often sketching out something onto the recipe itself or on a separate piece of paper if room doesn’t permit.  And while I’m making pictures along the way, words and snippets of thought to be included in the post freely move about in my head like internal dialogue in a comic strip.  I’m so in the moment, trying to achieve the shots I want, that I don’t take time to jot down my thoughts.  Multi-tasking while in my creative mode isn’t something I’m particularly interested in.  I’ve come to realize this isn’t the best way to roll because days may go by before I’m able to sit down and actually write the post.  It’s often hard to get that word mojo back while trying to connect the thoughts that linger in my memory.  Of course this is with the assumption that the words and snippets are still there and haven’t been replaced by a million and one other parcels of life that have been grouped under the heading of “distractions....

Thousands of students wrapped in sleeping bags, Snuggies and puffy winter parkas camped outside in 30-degree weather last night as they waited to get a ticket to see President Barack Obama speak at the University of Michigan tomorrow.

Obama is expected to give a speech concerning college of affordability and workforce training at Al Glick Field House, the indoor practice field for the U-M football team, at 9:35 a.m.

The visit is one of several talks the president has lined up across the country to promote ideas first presented in the State of the Union Address Tuesday night.

White House officials announced on Monday that Obama would be traveling to Ann Arbor as one of his stops, and 3,000 tickets were made available to the public at 9 AM.

Some students and faculty waited in line outside the Michigan Union Ticket Office for 14 hours to ensure they got a ticket to the event.

Teman Evans, a lecturer in the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, was the first person in line. He heard Obama talk on campus May 2010 when the president gave the University of Michigan Spring Commencement address. As soon as Evans heard Obama was returning to Ann Arbor for the second time during his term, he said he had to see him again.
