I bought these for my mother who has a hard time holding heavier bowls, but she would like to use them in the microwave. It is just rubber like material
Answer: I emailed OXO when I read your question; they finally replied:
"Thank you for contacting the Consumer Care Center. Unfortunately, OXO Mixing Bowls are not recommended for the microwave."

it says dishwasher safe, not microwavable.
Rubber does emit fumes and falls apart in microwave over time.
If in doubt, don't.
Get her some Melmac. it does fine in micro.
