Price of Trash and Recycling Pickup To Go Down in Richland Township
The Richland Board of Supervisors talked trash Wednesday night and residents of the township saved money because of it.
The supervisors voted 5-0 to award a $3.3 million contract to low bi dder Vogel Disposal to collect trash and recycling from about 4,000 township customers.
Recycling services will be expanded in that all plastics—No. 1-7—will be picked up. Currently, Vogel collects only plastics with the numbers 1 and 2.
Under the new contract, effective Jan. 1, Richland Township residents will pay less for each of the next four years. Currently, Vogel charges $18.96 a month for basic collection. Here are the new prices:
2013 $16.83/month
2014 $17.16/month
2015 $17.50/month
2016 $17.85/month
A clause in the contract allows for adjustments for fuel prices.
The township has the option to extend the contract for two more years with a price of $18.30/month in 2017 and $18.76/month in 2018.
